Our karatekas are back from the international tournament that took place in Athens, Greece
Last July, the two senseis from Karaté communautaire Shotokan Verdun, with three of their students, went to Athens, Greece, to participate to the 10th International tournament of the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation.
The five karatekas where in the Canadian delegation that finished the competition with the 8th rank in the world.
The members of Karaté communautaire Shotokan Verdun, have represented well Verdun by obtaining results that are worth mentioning.
Daniel Chalifour, Robert Racine and Michel Hurtubise made it up to the semi-final in their kata categories.
Jérémie Dufort has participated to the final in katas and has finished 8th in the world. This is quite an achievement considering than Jérémie, who is only nineteen, was at his first competition.
The two senseis Richard Valiquette and Michel Hurtubise, finished 4th in the world in Yakusoku Kumite.
Following these results, the five karatekas where all invited to participate in the International karate-do championship that took place in Korea august 19th to the 24th.
Happy with those results, the members of Karaté communautaire Shotokan Verdun are already training to prepare themselves for the 11th International tournament of the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation that will be held in November 2012 in Australia. The Senseis are hopping to have more representatives from the Verdun school in the Canadian team.
Following their return from Greece, the senseis went to a seminar in Karate and Tai Chi in the USA to improve their techniques. Their goal is to be able to share with their students all theses techniques that are recognized all around the world.
